Directing Your State Tax Dollars So More Children Can Have A Catholic Education
The program, known as the Aspiring Scholars Program, was developed within the Archdiocese as a partnership between the Catholic Community Foundation and the Office of Catholic Schools (OCS).
The State Tuition Tax Credit Program allows anyone (individuals/businesses/corporations, etc.) with Louisiana state income tax liability to direct those funds toward qualifying families seeking a Catholic education for their children.
Aspiring Scholars was designed to help qualifying children afford to attend Catholic Schools from Kindergarten through 12th Grade.
Partners/donors to the program receive a 95% state tax credit. The remainder of the 5% is used to underwrite admin costs (testing/website/media) and can be written off as a federal deduction.
You can also designate two participating Catholic schools to receive the funds. Ascension of Our Lord Catholic School is one of the schools.
EXAMPLE: I owe $1,000.00 to the state of Louisiana on my 2021 taxes. I can designate all $1,000.00 dollars on the pledge form, and $950.00 will go toward scholarship funds, and $50.00 will go for administrative costs. Furthermore, I can designate Ascension of Our Lord Catholic School as the recipient. The pledged money will go towards scholarships for students applying to the school.
